My Life at Age Five

My father taught me how to ride a bicycle at M.R.O.D. (Mount Rainier Ordnance Depot). I went to kindergarten with Mrs. Johnson as my teacher.

On my tricycle I rode out near the main gate and watched the construction of a new two-story headquarters, an International Style building, designed by John Tobin, an MROD industrial engineer, working with the Portland, Oregon, architects, Weber, Taylor and Associates. I don't know why they call it an "International Style" building. To me at five years old it was just an ugly, square building rising up from the ground for no apparent reason.
